Areas in Imperial Valley in Southern California wherein a sizable community that was previously employed in agriculture have been living without appropriate sanitation or drinking water access as well as the community of Mendota, California — known as the cantaloupe capital — could have an engineering report commissioned to assess appropriate water access and irrigation issues and to determine the feasibility and potential benefits of a compost toilet program. These are both areas where water shortages provide potentially profound impacts on the communities and hence investments in water saving alternatives, including ones that have the potential to provide clean renewable energy as well as agriculturally beneficial materials, is very well suited. By tomorrow afternoon three engineering firms could be contacted to submit proposals.
