Executive Order Regarding the Dissolution of the United States Department of State - 7.19.2024

As of today, July 19, 2024, by noon EST, I hereby authorize the dissolution of the United States Department of State to be final by noon EST on July 29, 2024.
All employees of the Department of State – including any domestic or foreign employees of the Department of State – are to turn in all property connected to their work, including any electronic devices or storage devices used for their work, to the local office to which they report for payroll purposes. All employees working outside of the continental borders of the United States are to immediately arrange transportation to return to the U.S.; any local staff is to turn in all property and assure that within three days they have severed their relationship completely with the Department of State. All foreign countries are informed that no foreign staff that may be a citizen of a foreign country is being accused or implicated in any crime and is to be accorded all rights and privileges as citizens of their own country with no further obligations to or in connection with their service to the United States.
All remaining working capital accounts connected to the Department of State or any agency of the Department of State are to be shut down effective noon today, EST, July 19, 2024. All pension and retirement accounts associated with the Department of State and any agency of the Department of State are to be suspended until further notice.
All operations through USAID are to be suspended as of noon EST on Monday, July 22, 2024. All local operational accounts and information are to be turned over to local staff of the respective agencies and all personnel of USAID are to return to the United States within the ten days as identified above.
Any employee of the Department of State or any agency of the Department of State that is not “present and accounted for” within the continental borders of the United States by noon EST on July 29, 2024 will be considered in violation of this Executive Order. Anyone outside of the borders of the United States will be prevented from direct contact with an official and verifiable agency of the United States without the intercession of an official diplomatic correspondence from the authorized representatives of the country of concern.
