I LOVED Fontaine – when I was like 10 years old. So, ironically and, well, sort of weirdly, did my Mom. She also really liked Richard Pryor but she ESPECIALLY liked Eddie Murphy. Stand-up. Comedy. She liked that stuff even better than she liked Bill Cosby.
But I liked Fontaine.
I did not know why, exactly. To be honest, I think it was because she was a woman. There was something badass about her up there doing what the guys did. I had seen her in this movie called “Jumping Jack Flash” and for whatever reason really liked that movie, but, honestly, did not really think that someone like Whoopi Goldberg was supposed to be a “computer clerk at a bank.” Not because I am racist against black people in banking (I JUST learned about how African Americans in the last 19th century were “lucky” to be able to “prove their race value” by getting jobs at banks after graduating places like Harvard and Yale) but because she had something else going and I didn't know what…until I saw her do Fontaine.
I did not grow up in an environment where there was drug use, especially street drug use. There may have been some rumors about family members of my parents' generation “trying drugs” but that was anathema where we were from. I never even saw someone smoke marijuana in person until after I graduated high school and moved to another state to get a job before starting college. This was “in the city” and I did not come from “city folk.” Drugs like that were the kind of thing that “city folks” did.
Or so I thought.
I really liked Fontaine…until I was on the street and actually MET Fontaine.
Now let me tell you, if you are on the street and someone is trying to pressure you into accepting that the “street economy” is your culture – including as a matter of “racial justice” – guess what happens.
DISSENT.
Not everyone on the “street” agrees to “go Fontaine.”
Not all street entertainment or recreation comes with that smoke or that needle, even if the nice Christians in the motorcycle gang are giving out alcohol swabs and clean needles. You’d be surprised. And not all “entertainment” is calculated as that cost of doing side business with the cops, including around “negotiating” a ticket or a citation, including after a pat down and a bag search, over YOUR RIGHT to use drugs on the street.
Now, they say Whoopi Goldberg has been “triple-vaxxed” (including before MOST other people began bragging about their triple-vaxxing – it did NOT SOUND at the time like triple-vaxxing Goldberg was an accomplishment for ANYONE, including the COVIDistas who wanted some of that “Whoopi Credit”) and still has “The View” going on. Good for Whoopi! That is the kind of “transition” we were all hoping for from our mandated duty to street economy for racial justice, right?
What supports us? Now we have cryptonomics and the “Artificial Intelligence” defense against being prosecuted for conspiracy and “motive, intent, and opportunity.” But does that get you back into your house, or your car, or your job? How about back into your child’s life after you’ve been on the streets long enough to NOT pay for their high school fees or contribute to their college application? In most cases guess what – it does JUST THE OPPOSITE. Getting too deep in with those “street economics” makes your family…alienated…As opposed to YOU being in “alienage” from whatever and whoever you were before the seven-year bankruptcy process that old buddy of yours put on you began.
But there’s more. The great thing about Fontaine was how Whoopi Goldberg used her voice to make the character. It was not the voice she used in “Jumping Jack Flash.” That’s part of what makes a great stand-up comedian. It’s not an effort to slander or mock anyone – there’s something that many people find familiar in a manner that may otherwise be uncomfortable – including if they experienced it themselves. Nodding off, tapping out, getting parched, getting “anxious with pressured speech” – all of that can make you “sound” different at one point than another. And, what if you are trying to communicate a point that some idiot who is talking like a jackass to you isn't getting? You might try an accent, slow it down, modify your volume or your pitch, as if somehow that communicates the point in a manner that some other effort to speak does not. And if you ARE on the street you KNOW how important your voice is to self-defense and protection – even if it’s just yelling to “stop stalking me” or “get the fuck away from me” or “put your dick back in your pants you motherfucker.”
Back in Fontaine’s day, though, they did not tell anyone about a “biometric account.” What is that? Well, if you want to know, go to the Central Bank of Pakistan. Go ahead…go and look up their biometric banking. They TELL YOU exactly what qualifies as a “biometric” for banking in Pakistan. Now, look at the state legal code, try government code, about “biometric accounts and public access.” You will NOT find quite the same description of biometric accounts, but if you look AGAIN under “law enforcement” you will.
Now, when they do “surveillance” in public, among the things they CAN get is your voice. They can even record what you say. They will try to say it’s “public capture” if you focus. A lot of that surveillance is not direct with the police or the state – it’s contracted out through private entities that make it “private property” and sell it. What happens when they sell it?
Do they “create” “biometric accounts” with public surveillance of your VOICE and then “charge” you “royalties” on your own production when you “get caught” in public using YOUR OWN VOICE AND YOUR OWN VOCAL CAPABILITIES?
Ok…think for a minute…yes they do.

They didn’t do something screwed up like cut microrobots into that smack that Fontaine shoots up and then get her to “left eye” you while she’s trying to get you to “socialize” with her did they?
Nah…not in the 1980s…

I apologize. There’s a lot here, including for stand-up comics and those of us who love their work.
But “medical malpractice” when it comes to forcing an intubator tube down someone’s throat for 72 hours to 10 days before they max out the billing and just get “turned off” – like “permanently,” like “dead from COVID and all” permanently – is one thing. Lying to people about a “health pandemic” to inject them with secret cameras to record them having sex and even DEMANDING THEY COMMIT CERTAIN SEX ACTS ON FILM is TOO MUCH.
It’s called SMUT. It’s not only illegal – it is a character flaw even my California ass cannot forgive you for.*
